On March 18, Kinéis and RocketLab successfully completed their mission, launching the final satellites of the Kinéis constellation into orbit. This now fully operational network of 25 nanosatellites marks a new era for maritime IoT connectivity.
Congratulations to all the teams for this technological breakthrough, pushing the boundaries of ocean monitoring!
NEMO Gains Power and Precision
With this new constellation, NEMO beacons are stepping up their game. Until now, they relied on a network of 9 Argos satellites to transmit vessel positions in the open ocean. Now, with 25 additional nanosatellites, coverage expands, and the number of simultaneous connections skyrockets, providing data access to more users, even in the most remote areas.
This deployment also brings unprecedented precision: vessel positions will now be updated every 15 minutes, ensuring more accurate and responsive fisheries monitoring.
This technological leap will enable artisanal and coastal fishers to benefit from enhanced tracking and more efficient management of their activities.

An Optimized Service by Late Summer
After a calibration and testing phase to ensure optimal performance, NEMO-equipped users will enjoy near-instant connectivity by late summer, with full deployment planned for September. This upgrade will be available to all users, ensuring more precise tracking and improved fisheries management.
With NEMO and Kinéis, we support fishers in achieving enhanced traceability and sustainable ocean management.
