Jusqu\u2019\u00e0 r\u00e9cemment, les terres dans cette r\u00e9gion \u00e9taient pour la majorit\u00e9 des terres agricoles, des rizi\u00e8res aliment\u00e9es par des eaux pluviales et fluviales. L\u2019utilisation des terres a \u00e9volu\u00e9 \u00e0 cause des changements climatiques et g\u00e9ophysiques dans les derni\u00e8res d\u00e9cennies (envasement des principaux r\u00e9seaux fluviaux). Les agriculteurs ont d\u00fb s\u2019adapter, en transformant les rizi\u00e8res en bassins d\u2019aquaculture. La production aquacole de cette r\u00e9gion est bas\u00e9e principalement sur des esp\u00e8ces d\u2019eau douce ou saum\u00e2tre avec un fort potentiel d\u2019export. Les autorit\u00e9s r\u00e9gionales, avec le soutien des organismes internationaux, ont pour mission d\u2019assurer la durabilit\u00e9 de ces exploitations, mais il est difficile -voire impossible \u2013 d\u2019effectuer une \u00e9tude terrain sur un si vaste territoire. Mais une nouvelle m\u00e9thode d\u00e9velopp\u00e9e par la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 CLS montre le fort potentiel des donn\u00e9es d\u2019observation de la Terre issues des satellites europ\u00e9ens pour inventorier les exploitations aquacoles en Bangladesh.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\">Mesurer l\u2019impact de l\u2019aquaculture sur l\u2019environnement<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fao.org\/home\/fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">FAO<\/a> de l\u2019ONU (l\u2019organisation des nations unies pour l\u2019alimentation et l\u2019agriculture) aide les pays \u00e0 r\u00e9pertorier les emplacements des infrastructures aquacoles et les classifier selon leur type, afin d\u2019am\u00e9liorer la gestion de ces zones. Dans un projet financ\u00e9 par le <a href=\"https:\/\/enaca.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NACA<\/a> (Network of Aquaculture Centres in Asia-Pacific) et soutenu par la <a href=\"https:\/\/unfccc.int\/news\/the-blue-growth-initiative-building-resilience-of-coastal-communities\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Blue Growth Initiative<\/a> (BGI) et le <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fao.org\/fishery\/fr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">D\u00e9partement des p\u00eaches et de l\u2019aquaculture de la FAO<\/a>\u00a0en collaboration avec <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldfishcenter.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">World Fish<\/a> (WF), la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cls.fr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CLS<\/a> a entrepris une \u00e9tude sur l\u2019utilisation de l\u2019imagerie satellitaire pour aider les autorit\u00e9s r\u00e9gionales \u00e0 mesurer l\u2019impact de l\u2019aquaculture sur l\u2019environnement \u00e0 Bangladesh. Ce projet innovant combine l\u2019imagerie satellitaire de haute r\u00e9solution avec des \u00e9tudes terrain pour bien identifier des zones d\u2019aquaculture, en caract\u00e9riser leur cycle de vie et constituer un inventaire.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ce projet utilise une m\u00e9thode d\u00e9velopp\u00e9e dans le cadre du projet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bluebridge-vres.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">H2020 Bluebridge<\/a>, pour promouvoir l\u2019utilisation des donn\u00e9es d\u2019observation de la Terre dans les inventaires aquacoles. CLS a adapt\u00e9 cette m\u00e9thode pour le cas sp\u00e9cifique du sud-ouest du Bangladesh, o\u00f9 deux types d\u2019exploitations aquacoles peuvent coexister : des bassins inond\u00e9s en permanence et utilis\u00e9 pour l\u2019aquaculture toute l\u2019ann\u00e9e, et un syst\u00e8me hybride appel\u00e9 \u201c<em>gher\u201d<\/em> o\u00f9 les cultures alternent entre aquaculture et riziculture, selon la saison.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\">L\u2019importance de l\u2019imagerie satellitaire<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dans le cadre de ce projet, l\u2019utilisation de s\u00e9ries temporelles d\u2019images optique satellitaires s\u2019est montr\u00e9e cruciale pour classifier l\u2019utilisation saisonni\u00e8re des terrains, vu l\u2019importante surface \u00e0 \u00e9tudier (625 km2) situ\u00e9e dans des zones recul\u00e9es. Les images du satellite europ\u00e9en Sentinel-2 se sont av\u00e9r\u00e9es les plus adapt\u00e9es pour \u00e9tudier la zone en question gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 leur r\u00e9solution spatiale de 10 m\u00e8tres et les passages du satellite tous les 5 jours au-dessus de la zone.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Une zone d\u2019\u00e9tude a \u00e9t\u00e9 s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9e dans le sud-ouest du Bangladesh. Dans un premier temps, les bassins et les \u201c<em>ghers<\/em>\u201d ont \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9limit\u00e9s automatiquement, suite \u00e0 l\u2019application d\u2019un filtre Normalized Difference Water Index (NDWI) sur les images Sentinel-2. Les r\u00e9sultats de cette d\u00e9tection automatique ont par la suite \u00e9t\u00e9 valid\u00e9s par des experts de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sirs-fr.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SIRS<\/a>, filiale de CLS. Cette approche a permis la d\u00e9limitation de zones pressenties \u00eatre des zones aquacoles, et parmi ces zones, 50 points d\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eats ont \u00e9t\u00e9 identifi\u00e9s pour une v\u00e9rification terrain.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Les 50 points d\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eats ont tous \u00e9t\u00e9 visit\u00e9s et analys\u00e9s par l\u2019\u00e9quipe terrain de l\u2019universit\u00e9 de Khulna, men\u00e9e par le Prof. Dr. Khandaker Anisul Huq. L\u2019objectif de cette \u00e9quipe \u00e9tait de valider les r\u00e9sultats de la m\u00e9thode de d\u00e9tection propos\u00e9e par CLS.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sur les 50 sites identifi\u00e9s, 45 ont \u00e9t\u00e9 correctement classifi\u00e9s avec la m\u00e9thode propos\u00e9e par CLS.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">L\u2019\u00e9tude montre que les donn\u00e9es d\u2019observation de la Terre et la m\u00e9thode d\u00e9velopp\u00e9e dans le cadre du projet H2020 BlueBridge peuvent \u00eatre adapt\u00e9es au cas sp\u00e9cifique de Bangladesh afin de rendre compte des infrastructures aquacoles et fournir un inventaire pr\u00e9liminaire pour planifier et g\u00e9rer \u00e0 plus long-terme l\u2019aquaculture dans cette zone.
